So my request is: Maybe one could add a check whether this line has been added. And give a better error message if not.

The usage section of README is quite short and explains that well.
This problem is the first one you'll get during development if you don't set up your environment correctly. I don't want to add a piece of code that will be useless 99% of time. The 1% left allows me to have some social relations :)
