+1 for the same error running the example

I added end: false to the write API call which killed the message. I'm not enough of an expert to know if this is preferred or causes memory leaks, etc..

Sorry if it took me some time to get back to you. Yes brandon, this is the correct behavior, like the one defines in "http://nodejs.org/docs/latest/api/streams.html#stream.pipe" and some other place in the node doc, since 0.6.x, we can't close stdout and it seems the end
option set to false seems like the standard way to deal with it.
