mc scans the full directory, pulling status of each element; current design.

Does it pull the status of each element even when no info about them is displayed?
After toggling the view with Alt+T, it is still extremely slow compared to far.exe and explorer.exe (with explorer.exe showing at least the timestampes and sizes)

All directory elements are loaded on open; otherwise sort order wont function.
