Source Han Sans was never meant to serve as a replacement system font for Windows, especially for Windows XP. Much of Microsoft's infrastructure is geared toward TrueType-flavor fonts. Still, thank you for pointing this out, which helps others who are exploring and considering this project.

So could you please tell Microsoft to update their rasterizer in GDI? Source Han Sans looks acceptable under DirectWrite, whatever subpixel or monotonic.

Whoever wants to use these fonts by default on Windows might want to install gdipp which replaces GDI with a FreeType-based library: https://code.google.com/p/gdipp/

@behdad according to #8 GDIPP causes problems in Windows 8.1.
