This is another thing we've deliberately left out of bruges so far. Two big things I've sort of put out of bounds are plotting and file reading. With respect to plotting, I'm not sure I want matplotlib as a dependency; I know from experience with welly that it makes testing and documentation more taxing.

Again though, I recognize the problem. Wiggle traces especially are not trivial. Our project seisplot was to be the plotting piece, but it sort of lost its way. It was supposed to be more of an 'application', as opposed to bruges which is more of a library. Not sure that distinction makes sense to anyone but me though :)

I know what you mean. Part of my future plans for Fatiando are to take all the plotting out. It's a huge pain to maintain even if you have good tests.

Well, the code will always be in the git history if you ever want to recycle it. I'll probably release it as a separate library then. Either way, feel free to copy it if you ever need this kind of code.
