Thanks again for your work on this simpleamqpclient. I'm about to suggest a Homebrew formula to the Homebrew team.
Cool.
I had a compilation problem when using clang (4.1 in C++11 mode = the default now on osx).
Clang v4.1 is included with XCode 4.5 and above. As far as I know the default compile mode for clang when compiling c++ code is to compile it as -std=gnu-c++98 and not -std=c++11. I have done most of the recent development work on Mac OS X 10.8/XCode v4.5.x/Clang v4.1, so unless I have some environment oddity I don't know about I'm fairly certain i'm correct in this assertion. (Though I haven't been able to find a shred of documentation that says what the default C++ dialect is).
I haven't had a chance to try compiling SimpleAmqpClient in C++11 mode, but there's little point to compiling it in C++11 mode as SimpleAmqpClient doesn't leverage any C++11 features. Likely it wouldn't work given the issue you pointed out with gtest.
So that makes me wonder why is you system trying to compile in C++11 mode?
You wouldn't happen to have -std=c++11 in your CXXFLAGS environment variable would you?
Could you please state the -DENABLE_TESTING=OFF case in the Readme.md please?
Yes I could do that.

I've disabled building the test suite in the default build. I also added a note about using gtest.
