While the devs might be able to fix the issue without this information, I'd like to make their job a little easier just in case.
- When does this crash occur? Right as you join a world?
- What mode are you playing? Survival / creative? Singleplayer / multiplayer?
- Which steps are needed to reproduce the crash in a new world?
- Are you playing with any mods? If so, which ones?

The crash is caused by the client trying to read a "selectedhotbarslot" packet. I've now added exception handling around this code and log a line with error level 'fatal' for 1.5.2.1 with some extra information in the hopes of assisting find the issue. Doing it this way since a degraded game experience is still better than a hard crash.

This is very likely fixed in 1.5.3. Please reopen otherwise.
