This is blocked as PyPI will not allow packages with the name "appsignal" to be released. An issue has been opened in the corresponding PyPI repo: pypi/support#2817

If we are blocked for a long time I suggest we try alternative names that communicate clearly they are prereleases, like appsignal-beta or appsignal-test, until the "appsignal" package name has become available. It will be annoying for people to switch, but at least it's in the name it's not the final package name so it should not come as a big surprise.

Agreed. We could always do what the bundler gem does for gem install bundle (without the r) -- that is, turn appsignal-beta into a package whose only dependency is appsignal.

Will go with appsignal-beta as that allows us to merge the documentation and continue using it if the PyPI issue continues.

Test with appsignal/mono#57

I did test it on the actual Python repo locally -- still good for someone else to take a second look, but it should work.

@unflxw best way to try it is to publish it. We got a couple prereleases to try before anything is really ready for anyone to install.

I tried to push it myself just in case, no luck either.

As discussed let's try and release a package with the name like appsignal-test or appsignal-beta to get a package out the door to test.

Moving to blocked. Everything has been done, except publishing with the desired package name "appsignal". Now available as "appsignal-beta".
