Hey @shaunakv1
Thanks for reaching out!
Yes, PostGIS is super useful and widespread. I've used it myself for geo spatial applications.
Im OOO for the day, but I will respond tomorrow
from atlas.
hey @shaunakv1
Please accept my apologies for the late reply. Doing a quick check on a table such as
CREATE TABLE rotem.geometries (
name varchar,
geom geometry
);
I'm able to inspect it:
atlas schema inspect -u "postgres://postgres:pass@localhost:5432/?sslmode=disable"
Result:
// rest of the schema (tiger plugin tables etc.) redacted
table "geometries" {
schema = schema.rotem
column "name" {
null = true
type = character_varying
}
column "geom" {
null = true
type = sql("geometry")
}
}
So it "kinda" works, by using the escape hatch of sql("string")
which isn't optimal, but means it will probably not block you from working.
We are interested in providing a better story for GIS users. Since the PostGIS API is vast, do you mind sharing what you would be expecting of Atlas for you use case?
I'm happy to chat about this on Discord if you prefer

Hey @rotemtam Just checking in. Any further thoughts on this?

@crossworth did an amazing job to support this in #1601.
