A mirror of AUR implies a copy of the AUR with the same packages (git) and metadata (REST interface) - just hosted in some different location. For example, there used to be a Chinese AUR mirror which was later removed.

I guess what you're looking for concretely is some fallback to user-published repositories on github. #1104 would solve this for aur-fetch, and you'd also need an update mechanism as described in #1103 (comment) for aur-sync.

Hm yes, that's correct. My example was rather bad.
What I was trying to say is, the possiblity to configure multiple, separate github / gitlab / self-hosted gitlab urls, where each package is stored in a separate repository. As described in the first part here: #1103 (comment)

Yea kinda, just not only github, but rather our own, selfhosted gitlab-instance. And moreover the possibility to prioritize our selfhosted instance over the aur, since we sometimes clone aur-packages, edit them for our needs or even update them if not updated for a long time.

So to be precise:
aur-fetch should check in e.g. gitlab.mycompany.tld/aur-packages/<packagename>
which is part of #1104, to preprend the <packagename> if dir-name is not set.

And if the package could not be found, it fallbacks to aur.archlinux.org, while from there on it continues with the default behaviour.

I hope you understand, what I'm trying to say.
