As a temporal solution, I will suggest using dotnet new avalonia.app -lang C#
while I am investigating the reason of the issue. But I suspect that something is wrong with dotnet CLI, we just yesterday tested it with .NET 5 and it worked good.

Yes. NET 5 works fine, as does the workaround of specifying -lang
explicitly. Thanks for that.
I found it odd when I looked at it yesterday that everything was listed twice: Once for C#
and once of F#
instead of the "normal" single listing with both languages specified. But I never tried specifying the language explicitly. Thanks for the hint.

@nils-a Yes, that was a problem which caused this behaviour. They changed something in dotnet CLI something so now the same templates in different languages that are not grouped up together conflict with each other. But the grouping problem was on our side, will send patch today.
