Hi,
Thanks for the feature request. I've added it to our backlog.
Unfortunately the code responsible for generating the control scripts is not in the GitHub project and is part our internal release process.

+1 I've also hit this, it is quite irritating. Fortunately unpacking using dpkg-deb and editing the postinst seems to work.
