Hey @rix0rrr, I understand the frustration here, the error message was introduce recently as there were a lot of customer who were facing the trouble when using the config file and getting the error which is easily solvable.
However for the above case, the RoleArn is not validated by the SDK but the service so the error has to come from the service.
I agree that it may be confusing at times but I wont classify this as a bug with the SDK since its more like an enhancement. Marking it as feature request.
