how to build a HA etcd cluster using eks-distro ?

Following the kOps instructions will give you a HA cluster though. And that is also what EKS-D itself is being tested with, so probably fit for production as well. kOps in itself certainly is. Whether it will work on-site depends on your on-site setup though.

EKS Distro is a Kubernetes distribution, not an installer. What installation method are you using? We cover several in our documentation.

i do as this doc https://distro.eks.amazonaws.com/users/install/kubeadm-onsite/ says, but when k8s cluster up , but the etcd cluster is just one node .

so, i build k8s cluster using kubeadm config with etcd.external option. my question is , when eks update to a new version, with external etcd cluster, will the update be failed ? and , how can i update my etcd cluster with eks update in the same time ?

That is from the community supported installation documentation. The main page of the community supported docs states:
