Thanks for your answer. I was considering this "However, where all involved parties have a prior arrangement, alternative coordinate reference systems can be used without risk of data being misinterpreted." as a possibility. IMHO, it would be good to be able to deal with other CRS in the geojson files (as we do normally do with GIS softwares like QGIS). But I understand the design choice made.

The official GeoJSON standard only supports WGS84. RV complies with that standard. This restriction applies to all GeoJSON data, including labels, and not just AOIs.
