And yep, require or w/e we call it would be the default.

No, require-user was just because I had a gut feeling that there are some cases where you really want to just drive user flows. Happy to keep it slim and not introduce anything unnecessary at all for starters. But remember that we may have to assume that the proxy is exposed to the internet, and until BEP-0007 is in place with more granular access restrictions, it may not feel safe to expose ALL your proxied stuff under that one big umbrella, given that you may have handed out static external access tokens to third parties etc.
