Why would I open an executable to run a report when an antivirus TELLS me there's a trojan!? lol. Illogical.

Nobody is forcing you to do so, you're not happy with the situation, move on, don't use the application.
I'm not wasting time chasing lazy AV companies for their constant false positives.

PS: this wasn't some lazy AV in the wild - it was Windows Defender. Every ahole has one, it's part of windows.
Read through the forums you pointed to.
I recall an oldie but a low-hanging goodie from old hacking days: encrypt the file.
Lazy AVs can't look inside anything that's not a zip file. Million encryption/encoding techniques out there.
Unless you are using it to install immediately - then yeah, this would be pointless as it would kill it once you decrypt it to a folder to run it.
