Thanks for reporting this. I wasn't able to reproduce on my machine, but I noticed I was using pretty old versions of some packages, so I updated many of them now (including sharp). Could you please test to see if npm install works for you now? If it doesn't I will investigate further.

Got the same error using Yarn
error is coming from: node_modules/sharp

although at the end it said:
info This module is OPTIONAL, you can safely ignore this error

website doesn't run with yarn develop.

errors:
This problem is likely caused by another plugin injecting
"_default" without registering it in the scope tracker. If you are the author
of that plugin, please use "scope.registerDeclaration(declarationPath)".
The exported identifier "_default" is not declared in Babel's scope tracker
as a JavaScript value binding, and "@babel/plugin-transform-typescript"
never encountered it as a TypeScript type declaration.
It will be treated as a JavaScript value.

also, multiple errors returned by gatsby-plugin-sharp
