Maybe it could be an out of range array access from somewhere else, since the skeleton isn't doing anything dynamic so if it crashes I would expect it to crash immediately.

Most of the time it does crash instantly. It was only this video example where it didn't.

Also it could have crashed because the previous ape it was displaying died and it moved to another ape pushing a new skeleton through and crashing at that point.

I've added an upper bound to the number of points in the skeleton diagram, which should prevent any writes beyond the bounds of the array. Since the number of points in the skeleton diagram are fixed it's unusual that would go out of bounds though.
