Sounds reasonable to me. clojure.core has many examples of this coding style (in particular for private defns). Btw, I guess such a rule would also mention the that the function should have only a single arity.

If there is no docstring for a defn, should it be "good style" to keep the name and arg vector on one line?

I don't believe so.

Even if there's no docstring, I think it's better to have the arg vector on its own line, as it makes it just a bit easier and more inviting for someone to come along later and add a docstring.

Yep, for single arity functions without docstring it looks ok imho.

@uvtc has a point with the addition of docstrings. However, I doubt many short self-explanatory defns would get a docstring.
