Unfortunately no. The rollup-plugin-string retrieves the whole text from the file and places it into the bundle. With this plugin I wanted to have HTML specific optimizations on the text (e.g. stripping whitespace, minifieing inline JS/CSS, remove unnecessary attribute quotes, etc.).

Hi @Mevrael, the main usecase for this plugin I have in mind is rather for other templating engines or libraries. E.g, Vue.js, Knockout.js or Handlebars work with plain HTML templates. This plugin is supposed to provide the ability to deliver your templates bundled with your JS code. The main thing I needed this plugin for is HTML minification.

I think that your wish regarding template literals would be the job of a separate plugin.
