Awesome! The changes should all be local to mediafile.py (except for tests, which we'll also have to make eventually). I think this starts with adding ALAC to the TYPES dict on line 73 and then searching through the code for "mp4" to make it handle MP4 and ALAC the same. (For example, you might want to replace obj.type == 'mp4' with obj.type in ('mp4', 'alac').) If you have ALAC files to run tests on, see if everything seems to be working—at which point we can expand the unit tests.
