@SebTM same here on bspwm. I did run -u with an image. betterlockscreen --lock works perfectly fine, show image and no dunst errors.

After I suspend, I am immediately shown lockscreen (without an image), then computer suspends. After unsuspending - no lockscreen.

Same 2 errors as op has.

What desktop or window-manager are you using?

Sounds like some kind of wrong / missing system-configuration or environment context for Betterlockscreen (https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=217281)

Also you are running into failsafe so you should run the update-command before and check your config.

This solution didn't help. Probably because lightdm Xsession wrapper already does that

I have the same issue, I tried the next branch and seem to get a different error now.

the DISPLAY variable is correctly set to :0 and betterlockscreen -l locks the screen just fine.

I use startx (but the xauthority file is in /run/user/<uid>/Xauthority, set via the XAUTHORITY environment variable) + bspwm + dunst on arch linux (betterlockscreen-git modified to use the next branch), dunstctl commands work normally.

Hi! I have the same issue. Is there any update on it? Btw, worked perfectly on betterlockscreen AUR, but not with betterlockscreen/next
UPDATE: AwesomeWM DM with no dunst installed; login manager is SDDM (if it'll help)
UPDATE2: Looks like betterlockscreen-git AUR version has these errors in the sudo systemctl status betterlockscreen@$USER, but works anyway (i.e. locks on suspend)
