It's coming along, though admittedly I haven't touched it in about a week 😿 I will definitely push my progress later tonight, and I think something nice and presentable will be ready to share for the next meetup! ✌️

Update! Hopefully I'll have a bit more to show on Thursday, but I think at a minimum this will be enough to get some feedback!

I'd make the value contrast a bit more distinct; right now to my colour-blind eye they are a bit close.
(Otherwise it's fantastic!)

White horns maybe? Bigger eye whites? Secondary color? We incorporating text?

@TommyCreenan Leave those eyes alone! At the size the logo will be used it makes no difference. Also don't make the value contrast too distinct. I'm majorly colorblind (Deuteranopia, Protanopia) but I see everything just fine and like the softness. I do like the idea of white horns so lets see it that way too.
from bflofred.github.com.
I did try out white horns, but they looked a little funky, I think a lighter brown/cream color might do the trick though to make them stand out a bit more! 🤘 I'm working on the typography, thinking of incorporating him into a shield/badge, but I'll have to see how he looks in those styles!

That typography better be so damn masculine that it smells like Brut

I have narrowed the type down to these ultra-manly choices
from bflofred.github.com.
Now that is just silly! @AndyStaple Are these masculine enough for you?
@TommyCreenan I like thick fonts what can I say. PS eff Times New Roman like the plague.

Logo Update! Just messing around with different layouts.
from bflofred.github.com.
I like the top and bottom left versions. Both could be good to have when we need the logo in a different context. What do you think Mr. Tommy? Maybe someone else will chime in with their thoughts.
from bflofred.github.com.
@TommyCreenan Thanks for the .ai files pushed dood 👊 📫
What is the scoop with the layout bizness If I can be so bold as to ask such a crazy question like the one I have just stated?
from bflofred.github.com.
@TommyCreenan I hate that you posted those images of masculine type. Makes me wish I never said masculine type in front of that crazy @AndyStaple. 👊

I took a peek at the MCR FRED logo, maybe we could do something similar to that to keep the nice cohesive theme going! Maybe the hexagon, but with the buffalo in place of the smaller one? Just a random thought, but the buffalo definitely needs a little something else
from bflofred.github.com.
@TommyCreenan Yeah that sounds amazing! The FRED logo depicted here is the global logo and is based on the honeycomb. This logo will also adorn all separate sites outside of FREDUP. Now take to the skies designers and developers!
from bflofred.github.com.
Can we just put the Buffalo into the smaller hexagon? It doesn't even need to say Buffalo if we do that.
I think leaving that smaller hexagon "open to interpretation" is going to be a fun way to let the other FREDs express their group identity, while still tying in to the overall theme.

@chrisvanpatten Yeah I like that! @TommyCreenan make it happen! get to work whipping sound 👍

@TommyCreenan Check it. An idea I'm playing with. This would allow for other groups to place their logo within the hexagon.
from bflofred.github.com.
I think we should make it so the whole hexagon is used. I think it'd look pretty cool if the whole fred face filled up the hexagon!
from bflofred.github.com.
It might be cool to have the hexagon's color not be a given, so Buffalo could be blue, Manchester green, etc. Just using the shape as a badge will leave this open to a lot possibilities!
from bflofred.github.com.
I think if we just say "you have a hexagon, make it have a visible stroke, fill it in however you want" it will lead to cool things.
I DOTH DECREE IT 👑
from bflofred.github.com.
My feedback is the current logo reads to me as "Close FRED", or "End Fred" because of the location of the slash.
What about moving the slash and making it look more like a self-closing element. While that isn't neccessarily needed with HTML5 spec, it would keep the code-look, but feel a bit more open
Something like
<FRED />
from bflofred.github.com.
Leaving this here.

Sounds like some hardcore Javascript goin' on here for this one in order to dynamically change it.

No, I think we just make it so you upload the whole hexagon. We can provide a PSD of an empty hex for download, so groups can just save a PNG from that. The easiest solution is the best.
from bflofred.github.com.
Also here is a problem with the logo at small sizes with the white outline. As you can see it becomes a bit distracting and blurry. This is a screenshot of the group org icon below your user account on github.
from bflofred.github.com.
Also looks cool on G+
from bflofred.github.com.
I think this is the best solution; we provide a hex and tell designers to stay within it. They upload that whole hex to the FRED site.
Let's do it.

This is what it also looks like on Tweeki for Windows. God I hate Windows apps! Can't we just have vendors get this gravatar thing right universally? Seriously?
