I've seen it reproduced, and disabling userChrome.autohide.toolbar_overlap is a temporary fix.
I'll try to fix it within the next week.

This exists for me in both versions, and has been there for quite a while.

Updating Firefox to version 123 broke tab hiding for me (even while on an old commit)... and I can't find a commit version that would work (like @ludles said).

user_pref("userChrome.autohide.tabbar",                     true);

I can't find version, nor were problem is in css.
