Both tasks are the equivalent to Cargo's Ant tasks start
and run
(see the box Wait after the container has started). I am not quite sure how run
task is implemented internally but I hope it's running as a daemon process. My guess is you want to run integration tests on Jenkins? This posting shows how to do it with the Jetty plugin and I guess you can implement it similarly with cargoRunLocal
. Another way to do it is to use cargoStartLocal
and use cargoStopLocal
when you are done. However, your task might have to implement something that makes sure that the container is already started before you run your tests. BTW: It looks like you are using exclusively Tomcat as container. You could use the Tomcat plugin instead?

Is there anything that still needs to be clarified? Please let me know if you have additional questions. Otherwise, I'd close the ticket.

Do close it -- I'll report back if we encounter any other issues. We'll probably continue to use the gradle-cargo plug, simply because we'll need multi-container support at some point.
