If Flattr had some sort of option to donate directly to a charity I'd do it but I don't need the money myself. The fact that people are using my software and finding it useful is reward enough.

You can in turn flattr charities or upstream projects (if they are on Flattr, too, otherwise you have to talk them into it, like I am trying to do here...) There is even a new "subscription" feature to automate that.

I don't need the money myself

It is unlikely that any real amount will be involved, so don't worry about that.

Cool, I didn't know you could do that with Flattr. I'll see if I can set it up to forward the money to Wikipedia or Wikileaks or something.
