Yes, I'm not surprised this doesn't work on QGIS >= 2.0. I have it here because someone else wanted to take a look at the code. It needs to be updated, but I haven't had a chance. Feel free to submit a pull request if you feel like trying to get things working :-)

Hi Carson, great stuff, thanks for the message. Any pointers on how to get started appreciated: http://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/90496/how-to-update-a-qgis-plugin-for-new-version-2-2 I will take a look and work on a fork with help from colleagues proficient in Python when I get a chance in any case.

@Robinlovelace There is more interest in this plugin than I had initially thought, so I might try to find some time to update things as well. The best place to look is really at those two links you identified in your StackExchange post. If you do want to help contribute, then a new branch is definitely the way to go. Then just submit a pull request, I can check it out and evaluate, and then hopefully merge in your changes.

This is the latest version I know of: https://github.com/CristianCantoro/cartogram-plugin . See here for discussion: http://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/72328/where-has-the-cartogram-plugin-for-qgis-gone @CristianCantoro have you tried this on later versions of QGIS such as 2.4? My guess - it'll work. @cfarmer where should the main branch of this project exist. @bjquinn thanks for re-raising the issue - you're right - it can be very useful.

I just downloaded this plugin and it doesn't work in QGIS 2.4.0-Chugiak. I get this error message in the Plugins window:
