UPD: I'm unable to reproduce this anymore. Either this has been fixed as a side-effect of another change or the conditions are more specific.

Managed to reproduce this again: it seems the overflow needs to happen when transferring multiple different items as opposed to a single item or stack. Updated the OP accordingly.
