something to chew on:
if we could replace the data type for Guide.xml and make it more efficient at saving (like able to do smaller diff type saves), what would that look like? JSON ? some form of SQL/Mongo/DB something?

we have:
tree based text data representing the interview
audio files
video files
images
xml lists of options
templates in .json

Mostly the concern/use case here is during Authoring - the final form could still be xml or json, so maybe it's just a matter of letting CanJS control the live 'GI' model as it's being edited, and then just strategically save to disc at reasonable points/times

@JessicaFrank i think this one can be bumped - it's more a tech debt issue than a current problem
