A simple program:

#include <stdio.h>

int main(void)
{
        int i;
        printf("Enter a number:\n");
        scanf("%d", &i);

        printf("The number is: %d\n", i);

        return 0;
}

After compiling sample.c into sample, the sample cannot can be debugged under cgdb but is OK under gdb, after the scanf() line, you type a number, the binary will go on under gdb, but nothing will happen after that if you are using cgdb and you have to type C-c to exit to (gdb) prompt character.

It is actually possible, but awkward to do.

The approach I recommend is to start the program you want to debug
in one terminal, and start cgdb in another. Then you have full terminal
functionality for both the program being debugged and for cgdb.

from cgdb.

No, it's not working. gdb is not working in --tui mode either.

from cgdb.
