Host the docs on the web

@matt-hickford readthedocs is for Sphinx style documentation and I'm not quite certain it will host static sites like that. We might be able to set up GitHub pages to just serve those static files. Can you open a separate issue to track the work to rewrite the documentation using Sphinx?

👍 I was looking for a basic usage example (from inside python) and I was surprised not to find any doc on web.

You're right, much easier just to host the html pages we already have on GitHub Pages.

I did it https://hickford.github.io/chardet/

git subtree push --prefix docs origin gh-pages

Don't know how to send a pull request for that branch.

That documentation is really old (last updated 2009), but it's probably better than nothing. In the long run we should try to switch to using Sphinx and having more thorough API documentation. I'll follow your example to make a gh-pages branch in the meantime.

Okay. We now have http://chardet.github.io setup as a place for more up-to-date docs, and http://chardet.github.io/chardet for Mark's old docs.
