Thanks, @chriskrycho. This is indeed one of the mines in the minefield of interoperability in the TS ecosystem. Couple that with the inconsistencies we see today with cjs/esm and it's a treacherous path to navigate.
I'll go ahead and bump to the latest version of node-fixturify-project to resolve this. Cheers!

Thank you! And yeah: I think in 12–18 months, the ecosystem will actually be really, really nice to work with as we get everything over to ESM and Node 12+'s exports semantics, but… in the meantime it's super messy.
