The problem is IO.puts is expecting a string not a number. I'll fix that example here in a bit so it makes more sense. Thanks!

On 2 that rule is referring to something different... In Elixir when you define an anonymous function you start with the fn macro.

fn (arg) -> do_something(arg) end

The fn -> end acts kind of like do..end in Ruby or curly brackets in other languages.

The rule refers to not separating a function call from it's arguments. So if you already had do_something defined you're write

do_something(arg)

but not

do_something (arg)
