This is an archive of the source code to the old chswx.com codebase, which has since been folded into a WordPress-based implementation on chswx/wp-theme.

This repository is being archived for posterity, but no new development will be happening here.

Create single post pages

Single post pages:

• Full blog data
• Header with post metadata (author, date)
• Previous and next posts

Basic blog archives

Put together a basic set of blog archive pages based on the homepage for now.

Enable sticky blog post support

Sticky blog posts:

• Use WordPress's built-in theme support for sticky posts
• Are highlighted in a special way to indicate some sort of importance
• Use featured images as a "cover" image of sorts

Rich metadata for sharing posts

Use some sort of plugin (hopefully lightweight) to facilitate rich metadata for sharing to Facebook and Twitter.

Forecast updated date uses the wrong timezone

Ensure that WordPress timezones are being applied to the external WU data.

Create category archive pages

Category archives:

[] Display a description of the category in the header (when applicable)
[] Display ten excerpted blog posts

Add RSS icon

Give an obvious path to subscription via RSS.

Blog posts: Add message for expiration after a set time

Expiration should be 48 hours after posting by default, but should eventually be configurable. (Likely will run as another plugin.)

Add widget sidebar to blog

The widget sidebar:

• Should only display on blog pages
• Should display below the featured post on the homepage
• Should contain widgets for subscriptions, categories, and a tag cloud

Create author archives

Author archive pages should have:

[] Photo and bio
[] Posts in excerpt form (ten per page)

Create blog homepage

Create the homepage for the @chswx blog. Fairly straightforward blog to start:

• Ten posts per page
• Navigability into the archive from the homepage

Blog posts: Add commenting support

Create date-based archives

Not your usual date-based archive page:

• The day's weather roundup in the header of the page
• Blog posts below (likely excerpted)
• Ten posts per page; no weather roundup header on additional pages
