I'm not sure I understand the issue. Are you talking about delay() requiring you to explicitly pass arguments via args and kwargs? Task functions only receive the args that were passed when queueing the task.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I created a task:

@tiger.task()
def mytask(user_id=None):
    pass

Queueing that task works, but when I configure the queue my task receives an unexpected keyword argument queue when being executed:

taskargs = {
    'user_id': user.id,
}
tasks.mytask.delay(queue='customqueue', **taskargs)

Is this because I need to pass the task function to delay instead of executing the task?

You would have to do it like this: tiger.delay(tasks.mytask, queue='customqueue', kwargs=taskargs)
