I got the exact same error message when running starter locally following the instructions on http://help.cloud66.com/building-your-stack/cloud-66-starter.

My workaround was to clone this repo and run the starter executable within the starter directory but I assume this is not the 'normal' way of working

(BTW the option -templates is removed, see 3e27dc4.)

@dovadi hi Frank! thanks for the feedback. I've started working on support for downloading templates from github as well as putting the templates flag back. You can find it under the dev branch. We will release this next week.
