Thanks for asking this question! This error message is consistent with the behavior I'd expect if github.com was either not available from your CF deployment (e.g., you're behind a firewall), or if github.com was not responding at the time you tried to stage.

Is it working now? Then perhaps github.com was temporarily unavailable for whatever reason.

Is it still happening now? Can you double-check that your CF deployment has network access?

Is there a specific reason you're not using the staticfile-buildpack that's installed on your current system? You may want to try using that, by pushing with the option -b staticfile_buildpack.
