Bootstro is currently treating the json file as a ordered array, so the first element will have step 0, for example. If you really wanna walk the JSON file by the step attribute, you can pre-process the JSON before passing it to bootstro. Adding this to bootstro will probably make it more complex than needed, and I'm trying to avoid that. So it's a no, sorry

Erm, I just set the step in my json file and it worked....

'"step": 0'

I think it would be good to add this. Because bootstro not always processes all elements in the array order. It seams that there might be a problem with absolute/fixed positioned elements. That are always processed at the beginning.
