Took a quick look into the code. We already use the e command:

vim-sourcetrail/autoload/sourcetrail.py

I will try if I can reproduce this.

I think I found a fix that works for me ...

Add nested to autocommand that calls :e! to force generating all relevant events like BufRead, etc. vim-sourcetrail/autoload/sourcetrail.vim

+		autocmd FocusGained,BufEnter	* nested :call sourcetrail#UpdateBuffer()

Reorder the update flag to avoid recursion vim-sourcetrail/autoload/sourcetrail.py

The original author of this plugin is unfortunately not with us anymore, so I would need to read into all of it first. Would you like to put together a pull request please?
