How and where do you implement this? I'm not a coder so this is not as obvious.

In the jquery.nivo.slider.js file. Basic style uses an image of bullets so numeration is invisible. You need to delete that image and disable text-indent in CSS file.

Ok I just realized why I was confused. I've been using the jquery.nivo.slider.pack.js file, which looks completely different. Thanks for helping me to clear this up. And your correction works as well.
