Please no. Do not put this in the root directory. Intellij and potentially other IDE's automatically process this file the first moment it is opened and any time it is changed. What exists in the jvmbuild file is sufficient should people choose to use it.

Okay, I was a little confused at first, wondering what all the fuss was about. For me, it worked fine, in the IDE and everything.

Then I realised my mistake - yes, there is a blank build.gradle in the topmost root directory - which I never opened in my IDE! That's why I didn't notice this problem before pushing. I always used the IDE to open the buildJvm directory, rather than the root directory. If you open the project from the project root directory (which certainly seems the logical choice) then the blank build.gradle file screws everything up.

I've deleted the build.gradle file from the root directory. I'll add a few comments to the root README.md, pointing to buildJvm/README.md, and add instructions to the end of buildJvm/README.md describing how to open the project in an IDE.
