Yes until we have updated to 7.3 selinux-policy package, we will see this type of failures.

master is also broken on fedora, I cannot build or do anything because of all the duplicate declarations

@crosbymichael what version of fedora are you using for this? I did see issues building master on f24, but it works fine on rawhide, see: http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=15060097

The selinux-policy on rawhide seems way ahead of f24

selinux-policy-3.13.1-191.8.fc24.noarch
v/s
selinux-policy-3.13.1-205.fc26.noarch

I gotta check with
selinux-policy rpm maintainers if it can be updated easily on f24, or maybe
you could try using the 'fedora' branch in here?

Yes, the fedora branch works on f24.

Is there a better way to manage all these various package versions and distro versions for this repo? Right now each distro version is different and depends on a specific commit from this repo. Then the 2-5 other policy packages are updated and it depends on a different commit. I literally went from having a working package Thursday morning to totally broken one an hour later.

Maybe we can make the build process in this repo smarter to generate the correct files depending on the build env and not based on some commit in the timeline? I don't know what the best solution is right now so any suggestions would be helpful.

rhatdan avatar rhatdan commented on August 17, 2024

Well this is the way distributions work. We build a policy that relies on the specific version of selinux-policy installed in the OS. We can ask the selinux-policy package to be updated. These are somewhat like shared libraries/interfaces. If the libraries do not match we can not update.

I will ask the SELinux guys to update the f24 policy

This should be fixed on all Fedoras and rhel-7.3. @lsm5 could you confirm it and close this issue?

Thanks.
