I guess the other benefit of using package.json
is that we get an easy way of setting the other options... The current functionality will definitely work for us, not sure how other people feel.

Yeah I like the idea, although it could become messy – If you forget to tag the repo with the same version that you specify, that version will just get lost in the next run. Maybe that's ok just to leave up to the user to manage.

True, trying to get this working in our version/build/deploy workflow. I'll hold off on any more suggestions until I've actually used it a bit more :)
