There is nothing stopping you from creating your own template using the commit-list
helper to group commits based on keywords like added:
. However, not every project will use the same keywords, so there is no way to group changes like this without enforcing a certain commit style, which is against the point of this library.
The idea of auto-changelog
is to create a decent looking changelog for any project with as little configuration as possible, regardless of what commit pattern you use. By default the changes are grouped using merges and issues – things that most projects use. Yes, this isn't exactly the grouping that keepachangelog
suggests but it's the best we can do using just information from a git log.
The fact that the template is called keepachangelog
is referring more to the look and syntax of the changelog, rather than trying to exactly replicate the philosophy.
