Okay, I fixed it. It turned out that 1 Gb of free partition space with Windows on board is not enough to properly extract the macOS image on a USB stick.

Also getting this error, I have over 140GB storage on my main partition so Im not sure why this is happening, 7zip is up to date too.

I got my previous issue to be fixed
If this is your previous issue, please close it.
now I'm getting the error in the title. Anybody know a solution?
The file likely either didn't download correctly or 7z may be outdated. I would ensure you have the latest 7z installed, and redownload. If that doesn't work, try downloading a different macOS version in the list and see if that helps.

So I think the issue was I was following this guide which was telling me to only download the recovery package. I now used the actual gibmacos and it successfully extracted but now, I'm getting a new error:
Image: c:\users\LMAOyouTHOUGHT\appdata\local\temp\tmpwj6fal\4.hfs
Disk 2. Samsung Flash Drive USB Device - 128.31 GB (Removable)
D:\Install Mac\gibMacOS-master\Scripts\ddrelease64.exe if=c:\users\niceTryBoomers\appdata\local\temp\tmpwj6fal\4.hfs of=\\?\Device\Harddisk2\Partition2 bs=8M --progress
This may take some time!
An error occurred:

It's the same for me .. I'm preparing a bootable flash drive with macOS Catalina 10.15.3 using this guide: https://vanilla.amd-osx.com/. Everything goes well until the extraction of the RecoveryHDMetaDmg.pkg file to a usb stick. Extraction works well until "Extracting BaseSystem.dmg ...". It then throws the error "An error occurred extracting: 2". I tried to extract another image, updated 7zip, deleted and reinstalled gibMacOS again but nothing helps.

@8GalaxyDroid8 , how did you fix it? What did you use? Diskpart? Thx.

This is because is not enough space, just try to free up the Windows partition drive ( e.g. C:\ ) I had same issue . works with 2.5-3 G free space. Good luck .

I suppose this error occurs when the disk or partition on which gibMacOSs is unpacked has less than 4 Gb of free space. In my case I had unpacked gibMacOS on the desktop whose files were in partition C: on which I had ~ 700 Mb of free space. So I freed up ~ 4 Gb of space and tried again. After this unpacking went without problems.
PS. The amount of free space of disk or partition needed to extract the image correctly may vary depending on the macOS version you want to install.

After clearing up some space, I also performed a power-cycle. I guess some system cache files can get in the way as well. Regardless, thanks for the tip!

I installed 7z via chocolatey and the error went away.
The script should check for proper availability of 7z.

I used the 10.5.4 worked without a hitch. I also used 32bit version of 7zip

@zaklundie do you have antivirus active? Windows put the kibosh on DD accessing my memory twice
from gibmacos.
Re-execute and re-download gibMacOS,it work。But new problems will arise
from gibmacos.
As @8GalaxyDroid8 mentioned, it seems to be a remaining space issue on the system disk.
I had only 1Gb remaining on my Windows system disk (C:) and making more space actually fixed the issue.
