Dave, thanks for your concern. I do howtonode in my free-time. Something I've not had a lot of lately since I now have three children and a challenging job.
If the article is in the howtonode.org git repo, then it was published. The index on the side doesn't show all the articles, it limits to the last 20. You can still load any older article is you know the url. Also once in an article, you see the last 20 articles by that particular author. I don't think I even have over 20.
It's very time consuming to keep all the articles up to date and check for link rot. As a stopgap measure I mark all articles by the version of node they were written against. Also I only list the latest 20 articles on the main page.
Howtonode is a community effort. If you see errors, please fix them and send me a pull request.
Thanks,
Tim

Tim,
Thanks for the prompt reply. Yeah, hmm, that makes sense... 3 kids, new job... jeez. It's just me and the dog here.
But anyway, now that I know what the deal is... that's cool. And I WISH I had time to fix things and send pull requests, unfortunately... not gonna happen for a good while yet. I hope.
So, I Googled this "Isaac" guy, and, (I don't know if you know this or not), but turns out he's actually kind of a big deal, apparently. He wrote this thing called 'npm', so I guess he knows what he's talking about. <<--(unmitigated facetiousness).
So I guess I'm gonna go ahead and burn the time to read his article. It looks like it might be pretty good... ;-)
Thanks and be well.

Sorry I caused you trouble. Thanks for understanding.

Tim,
I have finished my proof-of-concept app. Woo-hoo!
As a testimonial, I have to say I doubt if I could have finished it this quickly, with as much success, if I had not read the two articles mentioned above:
https://github.com/creationix/howtonode.org/blob/master/articles/flow-control-in-npm.markdown
and
https://github.com/creationix/howtonode.org/blob/master/articles/understanding-process-next-tick.markdown
I now feel like I have a firm grasp on the required patterns and principles of working with Node and MongoDb.
Thanks!
Here is a link to my POC app, both the CoffeeScript and the compiled/generated JavaScript. If you do happen to get a few minutes at some point, I'd love to hear your feedback.

(not a GitHub-ista yet...)
Best regards,
