what syntax is used to create the new styles that appear here?
That's hand-crafted HTML - inspect the page source and play around to see it in action. It contains many custom HTML tags powered by web components. This technology lost momentum when React came out, and I'm no longer actively developing that branch.
Are there any other undocumented features?
Most elements should be documented. Here and here are the lists of all elements as they are implemented by the two branches.
I should update the documentation.
