I never thought of implementing a slider in such a way. I can't think of a solution that prevents jittering. I wanted to instantiate a slider without having to explicitly pass it dimensions (ie: it takes up the max space allowed by the container) and then keeps those dimensions. This way I can re-use the same slider in multiple places without specifying dimensions for each instance.

Mottie, I know this is a super old ticket, did you ever finish it? My answer to #1 would be percentage of a containing element. This way the user doesn't HAVE to be a percentage of the whole window, but could optionally choose parts of it (such as a sidebar).

Yeah, I haven't been messing around with this, I've been busy with other stuff, but I guess since there doesn't seem to be much interest I'll close it and maybe just add an option to fit to container or something.

Hi Mottie, I would be very interested in this! Anything Slider is one of the best sliders that exists and for it to remain current I think we need to consider responsive layouts.

@foiseworth The expand function was the result of this experiment (demo). But I have found that FlexSlider has done a much better job at it... so I'll look into modifying this slider to behave similarly.

@Mottie - thanks for the tip - the expand function worked great! I needed to use the anything slider to implement a http://bbc.co.uk type slider where you can see the next and previous slides either side. I also wanted to make it responsive and to be honest the expand and a little extra javascript made it work very well!

I can't share at the moment but I'll update the thread with a link when I can...
