Workaround: Use the "view source" capability of your newsreader, then copy the Message-ID into the address bar (sans < / >), like this:

http://forum.dlang.org/post/[email protected]

Hm... doesn't seem to work.

Tried this:
http://forum.dlang.org/post/message-id@[email protected]

Real post is here:

http://forum.dlang.org/thread/[email protected]#post-jhbbfd:241tmk:241:40digitalmars.com

I would like that feature too. However, date is easier to deal with, and should be useful for other reasons.

UPDATE:
Nevermind, I didn't grok the correct way to substitute, this worked:

http://forum.dlang.org/post/[email protected]

message-id@ wasn't literal.

Speaking of which, it would help if forum.dlang had better URLs, something like http://forum.dlang.org/digitalmars.D/2012/02/13/Review_of_Jose_Armando_Garcia_Sancios_std.log in the above example, similar to how blogs work. It is much easier to search the forum using google if that's the case. If I want to search all posts concerning a review that were posted in the digitalmars.D forum in that month, I simply type the following into google:

review site:forum.dlang.org/digitalmars.D/2012/02/

Right now, I'm reduced to the following, which makes the haystack bigger and searches all the forums, turning up false positives:

review site:forum.dlang.org

A better, date-scoped URL scheme helps with google searches immensely.

Search by date is now implemented.

I think URLs in dates are ill suited for forums, where the date range of posts in a thread can span months or years.
